The entire West End Dog Show team would like to thank everyone who came out to the show and supported their local pet community as well as the BC Guide Dog Services! This year’s event was fantastic and the attendance for this event surged with 50% more spectators than last year. Everyone had a blast getting to know their local dog owners, vetrinarians, and small dog business owners. We would also like to thank the many volunteers & sponsors that made this event possible. We would also like to give special thanks to Purina who was the title sponsor for the 2009 West End Dog Show!!

Congratulations also go out to the winners of the “Best bark”, “Best trick”, “Look-a-like” and of course the “Six-legged race” competition.

Volunteer Call Outs!

As you all know the dog show is just a week away and in order to make it a great show we need as many volunteers as possible!. If you have any time this week to handout posters or cards or more importantly on the day of the event! from 10am to 5pm to help out with set up and clean up and another wide array of positions please let us know @ westenddogshow@gmail.com

Its a fun, easy going event with a good cause for anyone with a passion to serve their community and be with dogs!

Shaw TV – Doggie Interview Request

Attention Dog Lovers!

A reporter from Shaw TV is looking for someone with a cute/interesting dog willing to talk to him on camera about what makes their dog awesome. The interview will be very brief (5 minutes) followed by some general shots of said dog and owner. Some ideas include: stupid pet trick, dog with an interesting background, dog with an interesting day job, cool personality, or funny relationship with another animal etc…

Greetings Dog Lovers!

Summer is finally here and the West End Dog Show team is hard at work making sure that this year’s event is even better than last year!

The date for this year’s event is Saturday August 22nd at the Nelson Dog park behind St. Pauls hospital.

Cash Raised in 2008

That’s correct, in our very first year the West End Dog Show raised over six and a half thousand dollars for charity! The BC Guide Dog Services were the lucky recipients of this donation thanks to the outstanding support of our fantastic sponsors and the local dog lovers who donated at the event.

We will be growing this event in 2009 and will be raising the donation bar even higher. Will you help us raise more money next year??? By volunteering for the next West End Dog Show you can make sure we reach this goal!

The photo you see above is from the BC Guide Dog obstacle course that was set up during this event. People could wear a special blindfold and get lead through a maze with the aid of a service dog.

After having no vision for almost 2 minutes, guests were left disoriented and had a new appreciation for the valueable work these seeing-eye dogs do!
